This a conversation between me and a client.
Client: "Dan is growing healthy and strong. Thank you Lord Jesus, he is eating Good."
Note:
By eating good my client as well as many parents will associate the fact that because their children eat a lot of food they are doing well. Some parents seem to have a challenge in getting their child to eat food and so when they see them eating a lot the see it as a good thing.
HM: Okay... What is he eating?
Client: "Bread with sugar - lots of sugar haha"
HM: Noooo.... That does not make one healthy and strong!
Client: "I know but when I say 'no' he says, 'but I am hungry.'"
Note:
When he says, "But I am hungry," what is he really saying? He is saying that he wants to fuel up on the junk you have been training him to eat or the junk he has been trained by others to eat. You know it's bad for him and you want him to do well. Others may have catered to him thinking that they are doing him good but they were not.
HM: "But you're the poppa - poppa should offer better choices...."
Client: "I do offer better choices such as apples, strawberry, veggies but he says, 'ewwww...'"
Note:
Why does a child say no to fruits and veggies? There may be several reasons but the most important one is the fact that the parents/caregivers were not diligent in serving the child these things as they were growing up. Another thing to note is that the parents weren't educated perhaps in this area and thus this education was not passed on to the child.
HM: It doesn't matter if he says "ewwww..." to the choices you make for him. You are poppa and you are looking out for his health and his well-being EVEN if he is not in agreement with what you offer.
God cares for us and what He does for us is out of love. In the same way we do for our children what we do because we love them. It doesn't matter if they agree or not. They do not have the wisdom and understanding that you have AND in your home you control what TYPE of food is to be eaten. You buy the food so you're in control.
Love them into health by the choices you make BECAUSE you desire the best for them.
